Cleaning Furnace And Ducts For Special Occasions

Preparing for an occasion is always an exciting experience. It could be the arrival of a baby, or maybe you are expecting guests for a weekend. You could also be preparing for the holidays or the arrival of spring. In any case, cleaning your furnace and ducts is an essential aspect of preparing for an event and Prestige Duct Cleaning is happy to help you with it.

Cleaning Ducts In Preparation For The Arrival Of A Baby

Anticipating a newborn is a special event. A lot of planning and preparation always takes place during pregnancy and it is advisable to do all forms of cleaning before the baby arrives. A newborn baby’s lungs and immune system are still developing and it’s a wonderful idea to give them a healthy start by ensuring the best Indoor Air Quality.

It is especially important to clean ducts and vents before your due date because the process can be intrusive for a newborn. The equipment used can be a bit noisy, and we may need to keep one or two doors open, allowing cold air into the house.

Cleaning The Vents Of Your Dryer

Dryer vents should be cleaned regularly to avoid ineffective laundry work and possible domestic fire accidents. The recommended frequency for cleaning dryer vents is 5 to 6 months. However, when you are expecting a baby or guests that will increase the laundry volume, you should clean the dryer vent in preparation.

Planning Your Cleaning Before The Time

It would be best if you plan to clean your ducts and vents like you do for most other important events in your life. Planning ahead of time will help you avoid delays that can arise due to tight booking. For example, the festive months (September to December) are usually packed with events, so you may have to wait a while to book a cleaning appointment.

FAQ's For Duct Cleaning

The air that you and your family breathe inside your home is delivered through your furnace and duct work. It gathers dirt, dust and debris from many sources inside and outside your home. If you are moving into a new home, have had renovations done or there has been construction in your neighbourhood you need to have your ducts cleaned for the health of you and your family.
Every 2 -3 years should be sufficient. Individual considerations such as number of people and/or pets in the home, if anyone in the home suffers from allergies or asthma, if your system also provides air conditioning or there has been recent renovations are all factors that would affect the frequency of cleaning.
This is an extremely unfair and dishonest way to provide pricing for duct cleaning services. We charge a base price for the furnace cleaning and up to 10 vents and the additional vents are priced accordingly. The number of additional vents are indicative of the size of the home and associated main trunk lines and the work required to compete a thorough cleaning of the entire HVAC system. A company who charges flat rate pricing has to save costs somewhere…either by overcharging for a smaller home or under cleaning a larger home.

Asbestos was used in buildings from the 1950s to the 1970s. If your home was constructed during that time, it is possible that asbestos has been used in insulating or insulative tape. You can look online for more information about how to identify asbestos in your home if you suspect it may be present.

Prestige Duct Cleaning is committed to the health and safety of our customers and staff. As a part of this commitment, we are undergoing COR certification, which is an intensive, safety focused certification program. In going through this process, asbestos has been identified as a health and safety concern, and we have recently developed a policy to properly manage this concern.

Asbestos must be properly contained and/or disposed of according to government regulations. Our staff and procedures are not qualified asbestos abatement and removal personnel, and therefore cannot do this for you.

Asbestos becomes dangerous when it becomes friable (easily crumbles and releases fibers). Due to the aging of asbestos building materials, there is a high possibility that this could happen when our equipment puts pressure on your heating system. Due to this possibility and for your health and safety, we have a zero tolerance policy for asbestos.

We do not have a referral for an abatement company, but we recommend you search out a reputable, qualified company to assess your home – they will be found under the term “asbestos abatement”. Once the concerned area has been investigated and/or the asbestos removed, go online or call us to schedule your furnace and duct cleaning service. At the time of booking, please email/fax us the official asbestos documentation.

Happy with the service overall. The Gentlemen were courteous, friendly and did a great job. Small issue/suggestion: I noticed there was a lot of dust blow on the furnace room floor, boxes and mudroom that I had to clean up after they left. Wish they had doublechecked and cleaned up the mess created.
